The Economy vs. The Creator

This is completely anecdotal.

My #1 most listened to song is Untitled 06 | 06.30.2014 by Kendrick. I was sixteen when I first heard it and it was the first time I felt actually understood in a song.

Over the years in my online-persona building journey, I’ve felt a stronger urge to stop identifying with this song, since loving Kendrick isn’t β€œniche” anymore.

Recently, I’ve realized that I’ve been selling out some fundamental parts of myself to be more unique - and if that meant giving up what I truly felt, like how this song - and album - made me feel, I’d do that.

Eckhart Tolle is a self-help writer Kendrick refers to a ton in his work and he has a quote, β€œOnly by becoming vulnerable, can you discover your true vulnerability.”

And that brings me to the first marks of my frustration with the lack of understanding of what the β€œcreator economy” does to how society is working.
